Sticking to yo gunz!

One problem I have in cosplay is becoming so devoted to a costume that you do not think about starting anything else. It gets CRAZY when you have multiple projects at once.

Right now I have two in progress, one that needs to be redone, and several that I want to do (atleast 5 or more)

Its a problem.
I envy those that can stick to their guns and work steadily on one costume.

So, I have attempted to come up with ways that may help cosplayers do that.

1. Work steadily - like maybe every DAY - to finish a costume. That way it gets done quicker and you're able to move on to the next.
2. Motivation! Find something to motivate you, whether it be a song (T.I's Movtivation is mine), rewatching/rereading/replaying the series,
3. Get inspired! I find that looking at people that have already made the costume inspires me to make my own
4. The rule for everything: HAVE FUN! If it becomes too stressful, taking a break works wonders. Its sometimes good to have two projects because one upsets you there's another that wants your attention :)

Down in the Dumps - Overcoming Cosplay Slumps

Oh wow, am I unmotivated.

The most difficult part of cosplay would be getting in a slump, where nothing seems to go right and jealously rears its ugly head that everyone else seems to be getting all their stuff done.

I'm experiencing a slump right now.

While I have plenty to work on, I feel that nothing comes out right. I feel like cutting off all my cosplay friends. I feel like quitting.

There is a simple solution to overcoming a slump: take a break. Focus on something else in your life that has nothing to do with cosplay. I have still been doing crafty things by decorating tshirts for a movie premiere, but I have not been thinking about my new cosplay projects.

Half of the reason I'm in a slump is money. Its no secret money is a highly needed requirement in most costumes. Without it, there's not much that can be done...
