This is more of a rant then helpful. I'm sure I could be helpful and tell you ALL to wear makeup when you cosplay because it looks better in photos and blah blah blah.
But i'm not.
Because i DONT wear makeup and, honestly, I dont really see the point at times.
Recently someone said they did not "understand" people that did not wear makeup. Well, let me help them out...
Growing up, I was never taught about makeup. It simply was not really needed. I doubt i wore makeup to all the formal events I attended or on any occassion. Maybe mascara. Mostly lipgloss. Never once did I look at pictures and go "I should have worn makeup."
I personally think people that grew up wearing makeup will OF COURSE wear makeup while they cosplay, maybe even more makeup. I think it looks quite horrible when a person's makeup is so noticible. HOW does that person look WITHOUT the makeup mask? Probably not too good, unfortunately...
When I cosplay, no, I do not wear makeup. And the general opinion that you SHOULD wear makeup is not going to really change me. I have been looking into eye makeup, but that is it. I do not think i will ever wear all over makeup. It just is not me...
I understand [and have seen it work] that makeup can make a person look better, but I do not think the standard of beauty is only for people that wear it. I think I am beautiful WITHOUT makeup. I think I look good in photos WITHOUT makeup.
And i'm sure many people think the same.
There is not one woman in my family that wears makeup. We don't need too. We're flawless. And that may sound arrogant, but I do not care at this point.
